About Your Instructor

Samantha Benigno is a therapist, scientist, psychologist, educator, Ph.D. candidate, yoga instructor and breath coach.

Sam began her career in 2001 working as a counselor in substance abuse treatment with teens at Phoenix Academy-House. She would go on to work for decades in the field with substance use disorders and mental illness. This would include becoming a Supervisor at Hazelden-Betty Ford, and creating successful treatment curriculum for teens and young adults for multiple organizations, across the mental health spectrum. Though she has worked with people of all ages, all walks of life, with many diagnoses, and at all levels of care, she specializes in working with young people, parents, and families to help them find their way to optimal healing, health, and happiness.

Samantha has been formally trained and is experienced in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy tools and techniques, motivational interviewing, family systems, Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), EMDR, 12-step facilitation, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Skills (DBT), neurolinguistic programming, hypnosis, biofeedback, meditation, and mindfulness. In addition, she is a yoga instructor, trained in Ayurveda, holds master’s degrees in clinical psychology, Pastoral Counseling, and the Science of Management, and is completing her Ph.D. in clinical psychology with an emphasis in psychophysiology and psychological assessment.

In addition, Samantha proudly shares she has undergone her own personal transformation overcoming a life-threatening battle with addiction, depression, anxiety, and disordered eating, which informs her passion and commitment to helping others grow, heal, and change.
